Men Stopping Violence (MSV) takes pride in being one of the foremost international organisations efficiently working since years to involve men in the fight to end violence against women. They work on a local, national as well as an international level.

MSV’s innovative programmes concentrate not only on involving the fathers, but the younger males too. With programmes such as ‘Because We Have Daughters’, Men Stopping Violence aims to educate fathers about the psychology of their daughters and understand them better. This goes a long way in curbing down domestic violence. As the website says, "Because We Have Daughters® (BWHD)is educating the fathers initiative to engage more men in the work of creating safer and more just communities for women and girls. It acts as an opportunity for men who were fathers to invest time and effort in understanding their daughters’ realities. MSV believes that this helps men begin to understand that in order for their daughters to live fully and freely, the world that women and girls inhabit must change."

And this is done by engaging the fathers and daughters in various fun, recreational activities which is followed by a discussion about what those activities taught the dads and daughters about themselves and each other. Men, who are usually the bread-earners in most families don’t often get to spend time with their children except perhaps the weekends. Therefore, a programme like this is a great initiative to get men involved as it gives them an opportunity too,  to spend some quality time with their daughters.

Moreover, they also have various training sessions targetting men from different fields.  ‘Mobilizing Men-Beyond Batterer’s Intervention’ is one which "is designed for organizations interested in mobilizing men to work to end violence against women as well as for men who are working with or planning to work with these organizations."

Another one called ‘Men At Work: Building Safe Communities’ offers men the education and tools they need to disrupt culutral patterns that promote violence dominance and abuse against women.

You can read about many such training sessions here. Millions of men are already against violence. You too can join in. Request a training session for yourself, or your community males by calling 404-270-9894. You can also fill up their online training request form and get involved.
